A trio from the Leweton Cultural Group (who featured in Floating Land 2013) were among the eclectic mix of acts drawn in to the Cooran Acoustic Night in early October. In body paint and impressive fibre costuming, the men from Vanuatu just happened to be in the area scoping for a 2015 tour, when connections in Cooran brought them to our humble stage.
It was but one of the fabulous surprise performances that made the October chalkboard concert stand out. The crowd, which included participants on the Great Noosa Trail Walk, were treated to visiting artists from Brisbane, a Canadian flautist, and the solo Emma Bow from Sydney who casually mentioned she plays violin for Kasey Chambers! Two lucky audience members went home with prizes which included a handmade bamboo flute generously donated by Windelf and a voucher from Cooran's fabulous hair salon, the Scissor Garden.
Who will the next Acoustic Night attract? Saturday November 15th marks the final Cooran Acoustic Night in the 2014 series. Make sure you come along to the Cooran Hall at 7pm to be part of this special evening. Its children friendly, there's an affordable cafe and all music types/skill levels are welcome.
