Why animals don't need stress management
If you removed a small baby from everyday life and the negative influences of the world around them, it would be happy, successful in what it chose to do every day and never experience insecurity, worry, stress, fear, doubt and unhappiness - after all, that's what happens in the rest of the animal kingdom so why should we be any different?
This is the theory of Tim Stokes, General Manager of Brightlight Events, who recently opened a Brisbane office following the success of the program in Sydney.
Tim believes that the experiences we encounter as we grow up, program us for how we process information as adults. A young mother, who warns a three-year-old son not to climb up the wall as he may fall, is programming her child to feel fear - it's a learned behaviour that then becomes part of our psyche and influences all decisions we make - the fear of consequence.
"We were born to be successful and happy, that's what nature intended and how we are programmed from the outset. Stress, worry, anger, fear and insecurity are learnt habits and behaviours and, with the right thinking, can be 'unlearned'," says Tim.
"We don't believe you need to teach someone to be successful and happy - everyone already knows how that feels as they were born that way! In our workshops, we focus on tools of awareness to 'unlearn' and shed the negative habits we've picked up along the way."
The workshops have enjoyed excellent results over the past 12 years and tend to attract people who are already reasonably successful, aged between 35 and 50 and who are looking for more out of life. Most that followed the program attribute their ability to work smarter rather than harder to their success. The workshops help individuals identify what learned behaviour is limiting their potential and once they know what it is, then the change is effortless.
The workshops are based on the research of James Simms who invested over 16 years of his time and in excess of $1 million into personal development strategies from various countries and philosophies across the globe. James has personally mentored over 10,000 people one-on-one from CEO's and merchant bankers to small business owners and employees.
"Brightlight Events has enjoyed success as we are the next step in personal growth. We don't deal with people's emotional baggage and problems but take people who are already happy and moderately successful to the next level by showing them their potential. It's for people who are ready to take responsibility for their life," says Tim.
"The reason those attending our workshops experience substantial change in only 3-6 months, is because we aren't saying there is something wrong with them, we simply create awareness of resources and abilities they have always had available to them. Once they can identify which unconscious behaviours are impeding their progress, improving becomes effortless."
To celebrate the opening of their Brisbane office, Brightlight Events, will be offering their 2-hour introductory workshops for free. They will be hosted in various city locations including the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday, August 28. For more information, please contact 1300 850 198
