Free Theatre-in-the-Park gala opening on this Sunday
The Maroochy Economic Development Advisory Board (MEDAB) is assisting to develop the Russell Family Park in Montville into a high quality arts, cultural and entertainment venue.
Maroochy mayor Alison Grosse said the Council-owned Russell Family Park would host its first major arts and cultural event, Theatre-in-the-Park, with a free gala opening on Sunday, 25 January.
"Council is pleased to be able to assist in developing the Russell Family Park into a quality venue to host arts and cultural events," Cr Grosse said.
"The Park will provide a lasting arts and cultural venue for the Sunshine Coast community, and I encourage the community to consider taking in the sights and the sounds of the Russell Family Park's Theatre-in-the-Park gala opening when making plans for this weekend."
MEDAB has provided $60,000 to assist with the long-term development of the Russell Family Park as a quality arts, cultural and entertainment for the Sunshine Coast.
The Theatre-in-the-Park gala opening will be held at the Russell Family Park in Montville from 6.00pm. Parking is available in the primary school grounds. Performers at the gala opening will include classical guitarist Karin Schaupp, Karak Percussion and cabaret trio Combo Fiasco.
Since the introduction of the Tourism and Economic Development Levy in 2002, MEDAB has allocated nearly $1 Million to economic development projects throughout the Shire.
