Children encouraged to find their free voice

The Events Centre is holding an interactive children's workshop in August which will encourage children to use their natural, free voice.

Aimed at pre-school aged children, the workshop will use fun vocal games to make learning enjoyable, while encouraging a child's self confidence and self expression.

The games will include tongue twisters, combine making animal sounds with imaginative play, blowing bubbles and pinwheels and incorporating feelings and characters into the singing voice.

Workshop presenter, Xanthe Coward, believes "well formed speech habits and flexibility are the foundation of the singing voice, and how a child uses their voice day-to-day will affect how well they sing. The workshop will encourage children to find their free voice in a fun and imaginative environment".

The Free Voice children's workshop will be held at The Events Centre on Tuesday August 4 at 10.30am. Tickets can be purchased by calling (07) 5491 4240 or visiting

Tickets are $6, including fruit platters for morning tea. Complimentary entry for parents. Places are limited.
