Tuesday 8 November 2005  Gallery volunteers treated to training day

A range of presenters will contribute to the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery's annual Volunteer Training Day at the gallery on Tuesday November 22.

Diane Morgan, Chief Executive Officer of Volunteering Queensland, will open the three hour forum by discussing changes in volunteering in contemporary times.

Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the gallery recognised the important role that professional development had in enhancing volunteers' experiences at the gallery.

"Volunteers form an integral part in a successful regional gallery. Equipping volunteers with comprehensive and relevant information in a friendly and open forum assists them to air any concerns or just be reassured they are doing a great job," Cr Aldous said.

Caloundra Regional Art Gallery Education Officer Robert Natoli said a sample of other topics to be covered at the forum included a talk on the curatorial process by gallery Director John Waldron and a role play from a volunteer's perspective performed by regular gallery volunteers Ellane Chugg and Patricia Martin.

People interested in volunteering and gallery issues, as well as potential volunteers are encouraged to attend this event.
