The McCrea Collections: Then and Now, will be on show at Noosa Council’s Butter Factory Arts Centre, Cooroy from 30 January to 22 February, 2014. The exhibition will comprise of selected works from the joint art collections of Lyn and John McCrea; one of the Sunshine Coast’s most eclectic collections of Modern and Contemporary Australian art.
For thirty-on of the thirty-seven years of their alliance, Lyn and John McCrea have bought art together. In the eight years since their separation, Lyn and John have each continued collecting more works.
Members of the community are welcome to attend the official launch of the exhibition at the Butter Factory Arts Centre, Cooroy, on Friday 31 January at 6pm where special guest speaker James Baker will open the show. James Baker, one of Australia’s most influential art collectors and advisors, founded the Museum of Contemporary Art in Brisbane (M.O.C.A) in the late eighties. Baker's M.O.C.A hosted major shows by at least four of the artists represented in the McCrea Collections. Cash bar available. RSVP 30 January to: firstname.lastname@example.org
