15 July 2005 Get to know your medicines
Caloundra City's senior residents will be able to access free information sessions to help them learn more about their medicines.
Caloundra City Mayor, Don Aldous, said the Quality Use of Medicines program, an initiative of the National Prescribing Service Ltd and COTA National Seniors, aimed to raise awareness about the medicines older residents take and how best to manage them and their effects.
Five one-hour information sessions have been organised by Council and COTA National Seniors to help older residents get to know their medicines.
"Caloundra City, like most regions in Australia, has an ageing population and it is important that Council takes some responsibility for supporting community wellbeing," Cr Aldous said.
"This innovative program is a tremendous way to offer important information and explain complex terms in a relaxed setting.''
The information sessions, which will be held between August 1 and August 9, are an extension of National Seniors Week, which kicks off on August 20.
The information sessions will be held at:
• Kawana Library, August 1 at 11am
• Caloundra Library, August 2 at 11am and 12.30pm
• Maleny Library, August 5 at 11am
• Beerwah Library, August 9 at 1pm
