Gloves on for Maroochy Clean Up

On Sunday 7 March, Maroochy residents and community groups will don rubber gloves to help make Maroochy shine.

Maroochy Shire Mayor, Alison Grosse, said she was proud of Maroochy's response to Clean Up Australia Day, with more than 6 schools and 23 community groups registering sites so far.

"Last year, an incredible 12 tonnes of rubbish was collected across the Shire," Cr Grosse said.

"This is equivalent to more than 300 wheelie bins of waste that would, eventually, have ended up in our local rivers and ocean.

"This is an opportunity for everyone to do something toward cleaning up our schools, streets, parks, and especially our waterways.

"The enthusiasm shown by our community toward events such as Clean Up Australia Day is an indication of just how much we all care about our local environment."
