Chris Sarra is an inspirational Indigenous Australian educationalist from Bundaberg in Queensland and the youngest of 10 children. In the late 1990s, Dr Sarra was the Principal of Cherbourg State School in south east Queensland. His “Strong and Smart” philosophy of indigenous education led to dramatically improved school attendance, increased community involvement and educational outcomes for this often troubled community.

Chris Sarra was the first aboriginal person to graduate with an education degree in Queensland and in the late 1990s he became the Principal of Cherbourg State School in south east Queensland.
