Shadow Minister visit to scrutinise pensions, Medicare
The Shadow Minister who scrutinises the government's pensions and Medicare policies, will speak at a free discussion forum in Caloundra later this month.
Senator Nigel Scullion, the Liberal National spokesperson for Human Services, is visiting the Sunshine Coast and the hinterland as special guest of local Member for Fisher Peter Slipper.
"Changes to aged pensions have been confusing, in particular the removal of same payments and the introduction of others, since the Budget, so it's important to know where our pensioners stand," Mr Slipper said.
"Senator Scullion is working hard on behalf of the Liberal National team to ensure that pensioners and those with health needs are not being short changed through the social security system and Medicare, and his visit is an opportunity for locals to hear him speak and have their say on their specific concerns."
Senator Scullion will be guest speaker at the free discussion forum on Saturday, October 31 at the CCSA Hall, Nutley Street, Caloundra, from 10am to 12noon.
The event has been organised by the Fisher Seniors' Council in conjunction with the Office of Peter Slipper MP.
