Prove it before you approve it!
Prove it before you approve it will be the catch cry of the stall being held at Station Square in Maryborough this Thursday by the Greater Mary Association Inc.
If you are angry at the way we are being treated by our premier, come along and show your support at our stall, urged stall coordinator Beryl Heidenreich from the Greater Mary Association Inc.
Letters urging Peter Garrett to ask the Queensland Government to prove their claims about the environmental benefits of the dam will be available for people to sign.
We are appalled by the way in which Anna Bligh has made this announcement this week and the way in which she continues to ignore the concerns expressed by the people of the Fraser Coast, said Darryl Stewart, chair of the Greater Mary Association Inc.
At the community cabinet in Hervey Bay last year she made an undertaking to us, in fact a promise, that she would come to the Fraser Coast and explain why she supports the dam.
We made over 10,000 submissions to the Environmental Impact Statement process. If the premier was concerned at all about listening to the people she would have come here already.
We are still waiting, said Mr Stewart.
The next meeting of the Greater Mary Association will take place at the Maryborough Town Hall training room on 22 September at 7pm. Interested members of the public are invited to attend and receive an update on what this latest announcement means for the campaign.
