Happy 60TH Birthday - Golden Beach
Since 1947 the Golden Beach Progress Association (Inc.) has continually represented the residents of Golden Beach area…. Yes for 60 years!
The association has sought to provide residents views to all levels Government and regarding sustainable development in the area.
It is vital that the wishes of residents of the Golden Beach area are provided to the Government Leaders. I am proud to be the President of the GBPA at this important time, said Mick Graham.
"I wish to pay special tribute to the previous Presidents and Committees who all contributed their time and effort to make Golden Beach what is today. For a community not for Profit organisation to operate continuously for 60years is a testament of the interest and vitality of Golden Beach residents", said Mr Graham.
"The GBPA will celebrate this great milestone with a Gala dinner on the 7th September 2007 in Golden Beach. This celebration will showcase both the history and milestones in Golden Beach," said Mr Graham. " We are expecting up to 150 guests to celebrate our milestone. The Gala function is being strongly supported by the Caloundra City Council primarily through the Mayor Cr Don Aldous, Deputy Mayor Cr Don Smith, including Divisional Councillor Tim Dwyer. " stated Mr Graham
In recent times the Association has commenced to work with other areas around the Golden Beach area.
"It should be noted that our special thanks goes to Division10 Councillor Greg Singh who is strongly supporting the Association and the Gala Celebration. We hope to be here in another 60 years representing our area and seek to ensure that all residents are heard and their views made available to our Civic Leaders," said Mr Graham.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous congratulated the Association on their continuous representation and the positive nature of the Association 's input to community affairs. Congratulations on behalf of Caloundra Council to the GBPA for this tremendous milestone. Caloundra residents here always contributed positively to community affairs. The GBPA is a real example of this community spirit. "Well done and keep on positively representing the views of your area", Cr Aldous said.
Divisional Councillor Greg Singh noted that in his period with Council "that the GBPA has been instrumental in informing me of the views of the residents in the division. I also acknowledge all the other community based groups in the division and hope that they can join with me on 07/09/07 to celebrate the growth and balance development of Division 10."
It is important to take time to reflect upon the opportunities with Golden Beach and this celebration allows us to jointly come together on 7/9/07 at the Golden Beach Indoor Bowls Centre, Burke Street commencing at 6.30pm. The Association is fully supporting the dinner, drinks and entertainment.
