Caloundra residents, pedestrians and motorists are being advised that a
hazard reduction burn will be held next Wednesday from near Bunnings
Warehouse to Bellvista Boulevard.
The burn is part of an inter-agency training exercise involving Council, Queensland fire and rescue service Caloundra station and rural operations and the State Emergency Service.
The reduction exercise is being held to increase community protection as the fire season approaches and to improve coordination and communications between fire crews.
SES crews will manage safe access for pedestrians on the Bellvista Boulevard to Caloundra road footpath as fire appliances access the reserve.
While the exercise will be held with North East to North West winds to reduce smoke hazard to Caloundra, there is a likelihood some smoke hazard may exist on Bellvista Boulevard and Bellvista Estate.
As well as assisting inter-agency training, the burn will reduce available fuel in the event of a wildfire, making it easier for emergency services to fight any fires and protect property.
