Some of the Coast’s best student musicians will have the performance of their lives when they get the chance to play at the Sunshine Coast Council’s Caloundra Music Festival.
The All Stars Show Band will play twice during the Festival for what is sure to be performances well beyond their years.
The band, made up of 25 students aged 11 to 18 from schools across the Coast, will put on a big-band style show that will captivate the audience.
Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said that it was great to have groups like the All Stars Show Band performing at the Festival.
“We want to have more involvement from school groups so it’s exciting to have this kind of quality band on board,” he said.
“The kids are really great and I think the crowd will be blown away by their talent.”
All Stars Show Band Musical Director, John James, said the students will definitely put on a show for the crowd.
“We like to put on shows with a beginning, middle and end which are different to other big-band type groups,” he said.
“We are influenced by all different styles, ranging from acoustic to vocal arrangements of songs like Valerie by Amy Winehouse.
“The students play all the instruments as well as the vocals.”
Mr James said the students cannot wait to play at the Festival.
“The kids are over the moon that they are able to perform,” he said.
“This gives them the confidence and they won’t rest on their laurels – they will perform the best they can.”
The All Stars Show Band will play at 3.30pm on Friday 7 October and then again at 1pm on Saturday 8 October, opening up the main stage.
