Be gentle with yourself if you wish to be gentle with others. (Lama Yeshe) All we want in life is to be happy, but often we find ourselves crippled by guilt about our actions in the past.We feel guilty because we believe that we are "not good enough" and could and should do better. Sometimes we even experience guilt simply for how we think, how we feel or who we think we are, without any factual reason.
This obsession with guilt, with what we have done or have not done, prevents us from gaining a wiser, more compassionate and realistic attitude towards ourselves. This workshop will look at the related issues around the often complex emotion of guilt, and will offer ways to free ourselves of this burden, based on the timeless wisdom teachings of the Buddha. We will look at methods that allow us to develop insight and increased awareness, as well as a more compassionate attitude towards ourselves.
The course includes discussion and questions, joyful-resting meditation and gentle relaxation exercises. All welcome. Renate Ogilvie has taught at Buddhist centres around the world for over 20 years. She combines modern approaches to psychotherapy with Buddhist philosophy in order to help individuals deal with the difficulties of everyday life.
