Wisdom and compassion are essential faculties to develop in order to attain enlightenment. Insight meditation or vipassana is a simple practice of the moment-to-moment observation of the mind through calm, focused awareness. Vipassana means to see things as they really are.

As insight deepens, wisdom and compassion arise naturally. Growth in clarity brings about penetrating insight into the nature of our experience and with it comes an increased awareness that we are related with others in profound ways. The combination of sublime awareness (vipashyana) and altruism (bodhicitta) cultivates our natural capacity to have an open, loving heart and increased peace and clarity in our daily lives. In this weekend meditation retreat, we will be led through vipassana and bodhicitta practices by one of Chenrezig Institute's most senior and accomplished teachers – T.Y. Alexander. T.Y. will show us how to create the conditions necessary for the arising of insight and compassion, and how to use these practices to achieve freedom and lasting happiness. The retreat will be conducted in complete silence and will involve long periods of sitting meditation.

It is highly recommended for intermediate and advanced practitioners and is a golden opportunity to really deepen your meditation practice! Please note: it is compulsory for all course participants to attend the introduction on Friday evening as not to disrupt the flow of the retreat.
