'James & Giant Peach' - extra tickets released

"James and the Giant Peach" opened last week at Theatre j, Noosa Junction to largely sell out audiences and great delight from children and grown ups alike.

The 5th July show is completely sold out, despite extra tickets being made available, but additional tickets have been released for the 12th July performance.

Don't miss the last opportunity to experience the laughter and magic of this Roald Dahl favourite!

James Henry Trotter's life with his exceedingly nasty Aunts Sponge and Spiker has been pure misery ever since the day his parents were eaten by an angry escaped rhinoceros (What a start to a story!). But when something magical happens to change James' miserable existence he is totally unprepared for the wild adventures ahead…..or the rather unusual friends he makes…!

Theatre j is for two glorious weeks the home of Roald Dahl's Giant Peach itself with the production of 'James and Giant Peach' directed by Kathryn McTaggart being performed on 28 and 30 June and  5 July with a special schools performance on 12 July.

The fantastic costumes for this children's show have already attracted media attention and the production promises to be something special.  This is Kathryn McTaggart's directorial debut Down Under but she has a wealth of performance experience both in the UK and in Queensland.  She was part of the Noosa Long Weekend's hugely successful 'Take a Chance on Me' last year and most recently won the award for best actress at Noosa Arts Theatre's One Act Play Festival.

"This production has been an absolute joy to work on" says Kathryn "I have been surprised at how little theatre for children there is in our region, despite our flourishing theatre scene, so it has been great to work with some incredibly talented and like minded people to create something magical."

The play has a great story line and traditional Dahl humour (mixed with a little darkness and general weirdness) to keep older kids entertained but the fantastic costumes and use of animation and music should keep little ones riveted also.  As part of a commitment to involving children in the experience of live theatre children's tickets are subsidised, a family ticket is available and children 4 years and under go free.

So if you want to do something unusual these schools holiday get the kids down to the j to be part of James' dramatic escape from his awful aunts and his adventures with a band of rather colourful insects.
