Sunshine Coast music lovers are in for a huge treat in June, when some of Australia's leading jazz musicians perform at a free concert on the banks of the iconic Noosa river.

Presented by ABC Coast FM and supported by Noosa Council, the concert will feature Australia's leading male jazz vocalist Vince Jones and his pianist Matt McMahon, along with saxophonist Graham Jesse and around 30 talented young musicians from the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

The free concert will be staged in the Noosaville Lions Park on Gympie Terrace at 12.30 pm on Saturday, June 17th kicking off with local bands and musicians in the lead up to the feature performance of Vince Jones and his band from 1.30 to 3:30 pm.

The musical fare from Jones and band will include many familiar and recognisable numbers such as 'When Sunny gets blue', 'Do nothin' 'till you hear from me', and 'Someone in love'.

Vince Jones is well known to music followers with twelve CD releases to his credit and a remarkable interpreter and composer of songs in a contemporary jazz style.  Another familiar face to many will be top saxophonist Graham Jesse who was the regular featured soloist on Channel Nine's Midday show for 18 years.

Both will be more than ably supported by performers from the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music including the CQCM Jazz Orchestra, the Latin Blues band, the Jump and Jive Band and the CQCM staff ensemble ConJazz.

CQCM is a specialist school within the Arts, Humanities and Education faculty of Central Queensland University and the free concert has been jointly funded by CQU's Regional Centre for the Arts Fund (RCotA) and the ABC's Regional Production Fund (RPF).

The famous Tewantin Noosa Lions will also be in on the act, offering their usual yummy hot foods for the duration of the concerts.
