Noosa Heads Jazz Club presents internationally acclaimed musicians Ian Date, Nigel Date, Howard Cairns and George Washingmachine for one night only, at Bicentennial Hall, Sunshine Beach on Saturday November 26, from 7.30pm.

Swinging jazz guitarist Ian Date started working professionally at the age of 14, later carving out a successful jazz career in Sydney. In the 1980s he founded and led a Hot Club style trio that performed 3 days a week for two years at Sydney’s top French restaurant, l’allouette.

He performed overseas with gypsy greats Fapy Lafertin and Stochelo Rosenberg, and has made numerous television, radio, festival and concert hall performances around the world.

He is regarded as one of Australia’s great guitar players, sharing the stage with performers such as Benny Carter, Sarah Vaughan and Martin Taylor. He has lived in County Cork, Ireland since 2002, producing and arranging music for film and records and performs regularly throughout the Emerald Isle and Europe.

Freelance jazz guitarist Nigel Date has been involved in numerous jazz and other music style ensembles throughout Australia, including Peppermint T, The Straight Back Fellows, George Washingmachine’s String Band, Glass, The Eye of Chaos, The Djangologists and many more.

He specialises in the Gypsy Jazz style created by Django Reinhardt.

He and brother Ian are the Date Brothers guitar duo which has performed in many countries all over world.

Let the dreamy music of George Washingmachine wash away the dust of everyday life. George's seductively smoochy vocals have made him one of Sydney’s most sought after entertainers. Working the jazz traps of Sydney for years, George is a long time member of the Bonza Vista Social Club, and has supported international performing stars such as Sarah Vaughan, Al Jareau, Leo Kottke, Leon Redbone and Lenny Henry.

Tickets are available at Shoex, in Sunshine Beach Road, Noosa Junction, and cost $15 for club members and $20 for guests.

A budget bar will be open, so no BYO alcohol. There will be allocated seating, so book a table.

Purchase tickets early to ensure your favourite spot in the hall.
