Job's Right Productions Presents
Friday 14th & Saturday 15th March @ 8:00pm
At last! A real play about real people.
If you've never seen a play before then this professional production by the Suncoast Repertory Theatre is the one for you. It has taken South East Queensland by storm with two complete sell out seasons. Over 2500 people have seen it and hundreds turned away as the "Sold Out" sign came out more and more. By popular demand a third season is being scheduled and a regional tour undertaken.
You don't have to know anything about Tradesmen to see Job's Right". Within twenty minutes you'll have the whole run down on them all. It will become very obvious to you that all Plumbers are a law unto themselves, all Plasterers are stupid, all Chippies do is make a mess, Tilers are Prima Donnas, Sparkies are hated by everyone, all Brickies are mad and Concreters are as thick as the stuff they work with. It soon becomes obvious that the only decent and normal lot on a job site are the painters. After all, they are there to cover up all the other tradies messes and make them look good. Well, that's according to the gospel of Brett Klease, writer and actor of Job's Right - who, apart from being a professional actor has also been a house painter for twenty years.
The idea of putting a day-in-the-life of a painter and decorator on stage took SEQ by surprise, but the audiences were delighted. Many tradesmen and/or their wives took the bold step into a theatre for the first time to see what this play about them was all about. The response was that the play was very true-to-life, every detail was accurate, every character very real, every situation had happen on a construction site. And so they came back again, and brought their friends and colleagues.
Job's Right has a house under renovation with a house-proud owner from hell. You'll see the work get done, sort of, along with the arm-chair expert opinions, smokos, one-upmanship, jokes (practical and otherwise), set-ups, put-downs, and all the things that happen on a million job sites across the world every day (as attested by a contractor from New York City, a plumber from New Zealand, an electrician from England, a tiler from Scotland and a concreter from Canada who had all seen the show recently).
It's real life, not pretend or contrived. It's also a very adult show with very frequent coarse language, drug references, sex references, and adult themes; but what would you expect from the blokes-being-blokes world of Job's Right, right?
Warning: This show may contain coarse language, sexual references and material which can offend. It is not recommended for children under the age of 15.
