Sunshine Coast Council is proud to announce the next instalment of TreeLine 2012 in an exhibition at Caloundra Regional Gallery from 30 May to 8 July 2012.
Council’s Gallery Curator Nina Shadforth said the exhibition would include artworks from students from Ananda Marga River School, Caloundra City School and Kawana Waters State College.
“Artists Judy Barrass and Renata Buziak conducted a series of Artist in School workshops in March with the goal of including artworks in the final exhibition,” she said.
“Judy Barrass used her experience as both a traditional and new media artist to develop art that highlights our relationship with the natural world, by exploring the interfaces between the real and virtual worlds.
“The students explored new ways to make art about processes, places and experience of nature.”
Ms Shadforth said photographer Renata Buziak’s student workshops explored the TreeLine goals of raising environmental awareness while introducing pioneering photographic processes including photogram and cyanotype.
“The students were encouraged to collect, select and document objects used in the process as well as create abstract works that allow for layers of imagination and interpretation,” she said.
“The resulting images present students’ concern and appreciation for nature and the environment they live in and their sense of playfulness.
“Images of the cyanotypes made by Year Seven students from the Ananda Marga River School at Maleny, are transformed into an interactive display that helps them to find their creative abilities.”
Residents and visitors are welcome to attend the official opening of the TreeLine 2012 exhibition at 2pm on Saturday 2 June 2012.
