Biography launch at Caloundra Library
The life of a former company director, politician and sportsman, born in 1858 in Ipswich, will be showcased in a unique way with the launch of his biography by well known author Jim Lergessner next week.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the launch of 'I, Thomas Welsby' will be anything but ordinary when author Lergessner is joined by Brisbane radio identity John Knox in reading parts of the book as part of its launch at Caloundra Central Library next Wednesday 29 August.
"In an attempt to bring history to life, John Knox of 4KQ will read segments of the book as the persona of Thomas Welsby, assisted by the author as they traverse the life of this influential early Queenslander," Cr Aldous said.
Cr Aldous said it was a priviledge to host the launch in Caloundra City.
"This is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in the early years of Queensland's development for an up close and personal insight.
"We are fortunate to be able to host the launch of Lergessner's latest works, and I encourage the community to take advantage of this great opportunity to meet the author, who will be available for signings."
Dr Lergessner's other works include 'Embattled Seacows: Dugongers in Early Queensland'.
The launch will be held at Caloundra Central Library from 11am on Wednesday 29 August. Bookings are essential, and morning tea will be supplied. To book, contact Caloundra Central Library on ph 5491 1255.
