Lifeguard Twilight Challenge

Caloundra City Council lifeguards will defend their title in the third annual Lifeguard Twilight Challenge at an inter-council competition tomorrow.

Putting their skills to the test against their counterparts from Maroochy and Noosa, the defending champions are hoping to bring the trophy home to Caloundra for the second year in a row.

Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the Challenge helps to raise the profile of our City's Lifeguards.

"It is a terrific opportunity for Caloundra City residents to see our Lifeguards in action, while showcasing their surf safety skills used to keep our beaches safe," Cr Aldous said.

The Challenge, which is expected to run for one hour, will kick off at 5.30pm at Mooloolaba Beach, and will include a board rescue, tube rescue, a lifeguard relay event and a board relay.

The lifeguard relay will include six competitors, with one person over 30, one councillor and one female.  Division 9 Councillor, Tim Dwyer has been nominated to compete.

So make sure you come along and cheer our lifeguards on to victory.
