Family Reading Forum
Sunshine Coast Libraries presents a contemporary one day literacy forum featuring international, national and local presenters, showcasing examples of effective collaborative practice in the literacy arena. The forum targets a wide audience including practitioners, libraries, early childhood teachers and providers, community service agencies, families and child welfare agencies.
Key presentations include:
Creating a Reading Culture: Ian Yap, Service Development Manager, National Library of Singapore
Mapping Multiliteracies – Children of the new millennium: Susan Hill, Associate Professor in Early Childhood Education, UNISA
10 Minutes a Day – Public libraries and early literacy: Carol Edmonds, Newcastle Library.
Understanding the Australian Early Development Index; State Library of Queensland on literacy perspectives; collaborative practice – public libraries, early literacy agencies and communities; indigenous family initiatives; plus author and Associate Professor Gary Crew reflecting on writing, fatherhood, literature and literacy. All outlined in the program.
