'Little Shop of Horrors' Sunshine Beach High School's first ever school musical will be performed at the Cavern Theatre on Friday 6 & Saturday 7 June.

The show has been in production since late 2007 and promises to be an energetic, lively & entertaining production.   The performance will be a culmination of the efforts of over 50 students & 20 teachers who have worked tirelessly to bring this production to the stage.

This popular musical has captured the imagination of theatre goers world wide, and includes many of the memorable tunes from the 1986 film such as 'Suddenly Seymour', 'Somewhere That's Green', 'Dentist', 'Feed Me (Git it)'.

'Little Shop of Horrors' is directed by Shannon Coe & Glenn Taylor, with musical direction by Sally McHugh.  "We're really excited to offer the students this amazing opportunity & they have been working hard to bring this performance to life.  It takes a lot of commitment and dedication to bring a show like this to life and our students have demonstrated these qualities in abundance" Shannon Coe said.

The show features a 2 metre puppet representing the man eating, blood thirsty plant, Audrey II & a slick six piece band made up of student musicians that perform all of the music live.

Based around the character of Seymour Krelborn - a nerdy florist shop worker, who unknowingly cultivates a bizarre, man-eating plant, 'Little Shop of Horrors' shows the consequences that ensue when this alien plant begins to grow and grow.  Soon, it becomes clear that this plant, affectionately named the Audrey II, conspires to take over the world, one meal at a time.

The role of Seymour is played by Year 11 student,  Zac Largiader; and, his secret love by school captain Jamie-Lee Fox.

Tickets are available at the school office and are selling fast.  Students & children -$11, adults - $15, family (2 adults, 2 children) $40.  There are public shows available Friday night 7pm, Saturday matinee 1pm & Saturday night 7pm.
