Plenty to do during Seniors Week

There's plenty to do at Caloundra Library during this year's Seniors Week, 15 to 23 August.

Seniors Week is a state-wide event created to provide opportunities for Queenslanders of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate the valuable contributions of seniors in our communities, and this year's theme is Positively Ageless.

The Caloundra Library is offering a range of free events for people to take part in;

10am Monday 17 August - Baby boomer book launch
Author Dr James Legessner will talk about his new book 'Snippets from a baby boomer's diary'. Dr Legessner, author of nine non-fiction historical books, is one of Queensland's most distinguished historians, biographers and memoir writers. His latest book examines people's deep connection with Brisbane, from the conservative 1950s to the 'greed is good' 1980s and beyond. Morning tea is provided.

10am Tuesday 18 August -- Wills, Estates and Powers of Attorney
Suncoast Community Legal Service together with Caloundra Library will host an informative session about wills and the laws pertaining to estates and powers of attorney, and your rights and responsibilities. Morning tea is provided.

10.30am-noon Wednesday 19 August -- Digital Camera Tips
This session will demystify the digital camera. Explains what to do with photographs once they have been taken on a digital camera.

11am-noon Thursday 20 August -- Get Connected
An introduction to the latest social networks available on the internet. Learn all about Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

2pm Thursday 20 August -- Ma and Pa Bendall films
Well-known to many Coast residents, the legendary Ma and Pa Bendall were prominent surfing identities during the 1960s and 1970s. They took up surfing when they were aged in their 50's and Pa Bendall was also an amateur film maker. This session will feature a talk on their lives followed by a screening of their 1964 film Never Too Old (29 minute duration). Afternoon tea is provided.
