The Maleny History Preservation and Restoration Society Inc is planning a fun weekend March 6-7, 2004, with a breakfast to commemorate 100 years of commerce in this thriving hinterland town, at the RSL Hall, 1 Bunya Street, Maleny, to be followed by a poets' and liars' competition.
Guest speaker will be award-winning bush poet Jack Drake, who will also judge the poetry competion. Breakfast starts at 7.45am and admission of $15 also includes the poetry competion which starts at 9.30am. Admission to just the competition is adult $2, child $1 and family $5.
On Sunday March 7, the society will host an open day at its 100-year-old Pioneer Cottage, Bryce Lane, Maleny, with vintage cars, cake and produce stall, old-time timber working display, dairy stall with strawberries and cream, and Rotary's BBQ lunch to aid the society and the local disaster relief fund. Gold coin donation for tour of cottage.
