Noosa Regional Gallery September exhibitions

September at the Noosa Regional Gallery is set to continue the cultural fever on the heels of the current Travelling Scholarship Exhibition.

The gallery will be showcasing three separate exhibitions simultaneously.  Along with a series of painted works by local Sunshine Coast artist, Margaret Turner, the gallery will exhibit works by Brisbane artists, photographer Vivienne Kelly and Jeweller Madeleine Brown. Terry Bouton, also from Brisbane, will contribute light, music and sculpture to the diversity on exhibition in the Gallery.

The exhibitions open 6pm Friday 3 September and runs until Sunday 3 October 2010.

Margaret Turner - The Idea of Wallum

The work offers an intimate visual response to the idea of Wallum land, exploring the landscape's untold secrets. Margaret views the landscape through the history of her life's journey as an immigrant, stranger and seeker of identity.

The layers of texture, colour and movement draw the viewer to look deeper into the landscape and perhaps deeper into themselves.
Margaret's passion with meaning in her work will be embraced by attendants to her Art over Coffee session held at the Noosa Regional Gallery from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 11 September. Tickets are $12.  Bookings are essential - phone the gallery on 5449 5340 to secure a place.

Vivienne Kelly and Madeleine Brown - Throwing Shadows

This exhibition features handmade jewellery pieces and lanterns with a series of photographs depicting beachside scenes glowing with sculpted marine and plant life. Together these young artists draw on elements from scientific illustration of microscopic marine forms and in particular, those made by biologist Ernst Haeckel.

Supporting the exhibited works, Madeleine Brown will be hosting a Silversmithing workshop for beginners from 10am to 2.30pm on Saturday 4 September. Tickets are $65. Bookings are essential - phone the gallery on 5449 5340 to secure a place.

Terry Bouton - Time Travellers II

Terry's whimsical time travelling machines draws the viewer to a unique experience of delight with an installation of light and music. These ceramic sculptures are like scientific space probes from another time and have come to explore our contemporary life filled with machines and gadgets.
