The official Maroochy ANZAC Day Citizens March and Service will be held in Nambour this Wednesday 25 April 2007.
This year's march will assemble in Bury Street and will proceed down Currie Street at 8.55am, led by veterans and followed by antique cars provided by members of the Sunshine coast Antique Car Club.
The parade will also include the Nambour and Maroochy District Band, as well as the Second Light Horse Regiment (Woombye Troop).
The parade will pass through Matthew Street then come to a halt at the Quota Memorial Park for the 9.10am Citizens Service.
Guest speaker, Sunshine Coast resident Mrs Anne Dennings, will address the service on the life of war heroine, Nancy Wake (known as the White Mouse) - the most decorated woman in World War Two.
Mrs Dennings was instrumental in gaining recent recognition for Ms Wake, who was made a Companion of the Order of Australia as a result of Mrs Dennings' efforts.
Maroochy Shire Council and the Nambour Sub-Branch of the RSL will jointly host the commemorations, with assistance from Nambour Police, 128th Regional Army Cadets and 207 Squadron Air Training Cadets.
The Oriana Arts Concert Choir will be performing throughout the ceremony, together with solo performances by local tenor, KC Smith.
An F1-11 from RAAF Amberley and a World War II Wirraway vintage plane will perform separate flyovers at the time of the service.
