New on the scene of stand up comedy, Michael Bennett is an expat Kiwi who has made Australia his home over the past 12 years. With an Australian wife, crazy in-laws and parents back home who own sheep, he has a lot to talk about. Michael is a Pastry Chief by trade but after a 6 year apprenticeship and destruction of one bakery, he found out he was a better comedian than cook. This crazy-haired, wide-eyed character is definitely making his mark in the world of stand-up comedy with his outrageous look on life and the A.N.Z.A.C. culture.
Winner of the Triple J Raw Comedy Competition in 1996 in Melbourne, Stephen Head gave up a glittering career in laser science to pursue a ho-hum career in comedy. He's never looked back. He now makes from comedy about half the money he was getting from Austudy but at least the lines are smaller. A lot of people enjoy Stephen's style of comedy, his dry wit, the black humour, his naïve stupidity, the natural self-deprecation and cerebral jokes. But then again, what do drunk people know? Self confident he ain't, but that's all part of the magic that is Stephen Head.
Lindsay Webb will of course be on the bill too. Lindsay has been successfully working the Australian Comedy Circuit since he won the Queensland finals of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival JJJ Raw Comedy Competition in 1998. In 1999 he made the finals of the "Comic of the Year" competition at the Sydney Comedy Festival. Lindsay's style features observational comedy mixed with character voices and audience interaction. An expert mimic, he has his audiences in hysterics when he imitates well known celebrities and cartoon characters, placing them in strange and unusual situations.
