Between 1869 and 1892 the Mill Point Settlement boasted a ‘state of the art’ timber milling operation and supported a small township. Situated on the shores of Lake Cootharaba, it had a tramway system for transporting timber to the mill before being floated or towed across water down south to Tewantin.

Mill Point is part of the Cooloola National Park and this walk will be about 5 kilometres and take three and a half hours. Historian, Elaine Brown, will lead this walk.

Meet at the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service office at Elanda Point at 1.00pm. To get to Elanda Pt from Noosa, go to Tewantin, turn right at Werin St (Tewantin State School on corner), follow directions to Boreen Pt which direct you to turn left at Cullinane St/McKinnon Drive. At Boreen Pt, turn left just before entering town and follow directions to Elanda Pt.

It is recommended you wear long sleeves and long pants/slacks, bring mosquito repellent and wear footwear that can deal with boggy patches. Also bring some warm clothing in case it gets cold late afternoon.
