Monsieur Offenbach Presents
Singing the vivacious and frolicking music of Jacques Offenbach is Noosa Chorale's way of bringing jollity to the end of 2006.
Rossini called Offenbach, "the Mozart of Champs Elysees". Delightful melodies and bouncing dance rhythms abound. Who hasn't heard of the Can Can?
To add to the deliciousness,
The concert will rollick through La Belle Helene and Pericole. Helen of Troy will never be the same again!
Leonard Spira delights in the music of
"Operetta offers fun, excitement and some of the most beautiful melodies ever written," says Leonard.
"Our two soloists, Louise Kennedy and Bernard Wheaton, have a real feel for this music and will delight the audience as will dancers from To The Pointe Ballet Studio who will dance the Can Can."
This will be Leonard's final concert as Music Director of Noosa Chorale. Leonard has built up the Chorale since 1994. Under his direction the Chorale has performed great choral works, such as the Verdi Requiem, Beethoven's Choral Symphony and Handel's Messiah.
In reviewing the Verdi Requiem concert in September, Dick Tombs said
"The link between the Chorale and its music director and conductor, Leonard Spira, is profound - he is dearly loved by the singers, and it is no exaggeration to say that, goaded by his musical concepts and style, they take off and fly - they soar musically."
