Monday 20 February 2006 Privately Composing - Contemporary Art Music on show this weekend at Caloundra Regional Art Gallery
Leading local musician/composer Michael Knopf will direct a special performance at the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery this weekend as part of the popular Ken Hinds collection currently on show.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said internationally acclaimed soprano Louise Kennedy and cellist Louise King will feature in a concert of original music arranged by Michael.
According to Michael, the selection reflects his diverse interests in music of all sorts, science art and philosophy. Every piece has an individual character and, like paintings in a gallery, conveys something unique as well as sharing an underpinning theme.
The recital, from 2pm on Sunday 26 February, will consist of guitar solos, pieces for cello and guitar and cello and soprano. The trio will perform two new works, while guest soloist Craig Hanicek will accompany Michael on a new jazz work for sax and guitar.
Wine and nibbles will be provided. Tickets area available for $25 or $15 Gallery Friend/ Concession/Calpass. Seats are limited and bookings are essential.
The Privately Collecting exhibition continues until 12 March, featuring a selection of more than 90 paintings, toys and ceramics from the Ken Hinds cultural heritage collection.
The Caloundra Regional Art Gallery is located at 22 Omrah Avenue, Caloundra and open 10am to 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
