Caloundra City Libraries to celebrate Harmony Day
Caloundra City Libraries will celebrate Harmony Day on Wednesday 21 March with multicultural-themed storytelling sessions at each library branch during the week.
Caloundra City Mayor, Don Aldous, said everyone is welcome to celebrate Harmony Day with a free morning tea at the Caloundra, Kawana and Maleny Libraries and afternoon tea at Beerwah Library.
"Harmony Day provides an opportunity for us to celebrate the diversity of our cultural, religious, language and family traditions, and our successes as a multicultural society," Cr Aldous said.
"Our country - and our community - are enriched by multiculturalism, in education, business and industry, cuisine and the arts.
"Caloundra City's Community Profile highlights that multiculturalism is flourishing in our community. One percent of our population is indigenous and 17 percent comes from overseas. Many of those born overseas came from the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Germany."
