Mulu Char Restaurant celebrates 1 year as well as many African Charities
Mulu Char is about turn 1 year old and we will be holding a very special evening to celebrate with a focus on raising funds for some well deserved African Charities.
On Friday 9th September 2011, Mulu Char is rolling out the red carpet for a semi-formal event that celebrates everything African! We would appreciate any editorial support you could offer us on this wonderful event.
Live entertainment from Baala Baajo begins at 6pm. Baala Baajo is a dynamic and captivating duo that perform African drumming and dance. The inspirational voices of Nii Armah and Sam Okoth (who regularly performs at Mulu Char). This high energy and passionate duo will enhance the vibe for the evening.
In the past 12 months, Mulu Char has become one of the most popular dining scenes on the Coast. Offering locals a venue with atmosphere and culture and live entertainment from some of the best local artists around. Mulu Char’s aim was to provide residents and visitors with superior quality food and service. Over the past 12 months, Mulu Char has become known for our grill with prime cuts of organic and hormone free meat grilled to perfection.
Although our commitment is to offer our customers the best in hospitality, we are also committed to Africa. Mulu Char supports Grace Centre Children’s Project who work together with families to provide a means of improving the lives of their children. This will mean that these children will be given the opportunity to grow up into people who can change their world in a positive way with a hope and vision for the future. Andrew & Dee Knife who run the centre in Ethiopia are currently visiting Australia and will be speaking on the evening. Andrew will be talking about the many projects that they work on such as the Feeding Program, the day care facility and the building and infrastructure of local villages. They have many areas they focus on to increase hope and opportunity in this African Community.
This community is very important to us as we have family connections to this area. So as a means of support, not only do we donate 10% of our tips, we donate $1 from every steak sold at Mulu Char. We are hoping to provide Dee & Andrew with a cheque on the evening to take back with them.
Mulu Char is also excited to announce that Tewodros Fekadu will be also speaking on the evening. Tewodros is the amazing Author of No One’s Son - The remarkable true story of a defiant African boy and his bold quest for freedom. Phillip Adams, columnist for The Australia wrote “ Teddy’s young life covers continents, cultures, ancient and urgent conflicts. We are doubly fortunate that he has the gifts to describe them so vividly ...”
Tewodros will be speaking about his life experiences as well as his organisation Tesfa Oz which also brings hope to African communities. (Tesfa means Hope in Amharic) Tesfa Oz has assisted the Hamlin Hospital in Addis Ababa (known for their comprehensive care of women who suffer from fistula), they are also building a health care clinic in Bure, Ethiopia.
With a combined energy to increase awareness of these Amazing African Charities, this will be an event that any person inspired by Africa will not want to miss.
Full a-la-carte menu will be available along with many surprises and raffles on the night. Guests could also have the chance to win a family 4 pass to Australia Zoo.
