When Mathias (Vincent Lindon) moves from Paris to South Kensington to join his best friend, the divorced Antoine (Pascal Elbe), they decide to establish a new household for their kids by moving in together. They become a modern-day odd couple living in London . They set themselves some ground rules: they will never call on babysitters, have a midnight curfew and will never bring any girlfriends home. However, in reality life is not always as straightforward...
It seemed like the perfect solution for two single fathers in their thirties. They would take turns looking after the children, divide household chores and keep each other company on lonely Sunday evenings. But such an intimate living arrangement quickly becomes strained, particularly when Mathias takes more than a passing interest in Audrey (Virginie Ledoyen), a beautiful and ambitious young journalist who wanders into his bookshop one day.
As Antoine and Mathias juggle parental obligations, romantic intrigues and differences of opinion, we are drawn into the colourful world of the French ex-pat enclave in Kensington (affectionately known as 'Frog Alley') and the intertwining destinies of its locals.
Based on best-selling author Marc Levy's novel, with its disarming cast of characters, and set against London at its most engaging, My Friends, My Loves is a tender and light-hearted film, with more than a nod to the warm humour of filmmaker and writer Richard Curtis (Notting Hill, Love Actually).
A charming romantic comedy, My Friends, My Love is a bubbly spin on the 'odd-couple' set-up, featuring delightful performances from the talented ensemble cast.
