Most of the time it’s only die-hard music fans that get to utter those hallowed words, “I saw them before they were famous”.
Well not this month—anyone heading to the June 24 Nambour Moonlight Market will get that chance when The Moderns take to the town square stage.
These guys have already struck gold, making their name on Triple J’s unearthed website, as a band to watch.
‘Unearthed’ is triple j’s award-winning initiative for discovering and sharing the best new Australian music.
And as ‘The Age’ notes; “In Australia, there is virtually no more powerful avenue for new bands to find an audience than Unearthed.”
Hailing from small Gold Coast towns, the Franco brothers (Andre and Levi) along with lead singer Samuel Rees are The Moderns, a young rock band who predominantly draw on musical influences from the sixties and seventies - Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Velvet Underground and Jeff Beck Group.
The band have built from experiences gained through supporting internationally known acts including Philadelphia Grand Jury, Tame Impala, Yves Klein Blue, The Holidays and The Galvatrons.
