Australia's pre-eminent road cycling championships, the annual National Road Cycling Championships, is now the largest competitive cycle event in Australia, attracting more than 1000 participants.

The 9-day event is Cycling Australia's official road cycling championships for elite and junior division competitors and is open to members of all cycling clubs in Australia.  It offers a range of disciplines staged across picturesque locations such as Caloundra, Beerwah, Maleny, Coolum and Mooloolaba.

The "Sports Class" allows non-licenced and licenced competitors to participate in their own event as part of the Championships.

Queensland Events, USM Events and Cycling Australia signed a deal to stage the National Road Cycling Championships on the Sunshine Coast until 2006.

This year there are even more reasons to participate in the 2005 National Road Cycling Championships. The 10-day event doubles as the Cycling Australia official National Club Road Cycling Championships for the elite and junior division.
