National Simultaneous Storytime - ¼ of a million kids on storytelling mats around Australia
On Friday 3 September 2004 at 11:00am... Maroochy Libraries will join organisations from Broome to Hobart, reading the picture book Muddled-up farm to over a quarter of a million Australian children.
Now in its fourth successful year, National Simultaneous Storytime 2004 will be held during Literacy and Numeracy Week, a commonwealth government initiative which aims to celebrate and acknowledge the vital work being done in schools and communities around Australia to develop young people's literacy and numeracy skills.
The event has been organised by the Australian Library and Information Association, to promote the value of reading and literacy, the importance of Australia's book industry and the role of libraries. National Simultaneous Storytime is kindly sponsored by Australia Post.
Muddled-up farm, written by Mike Dumbleton and illustrated by Jobi Murphy, was awarded Book of the Year 2003 by Speech Pathology Australia.
Muddle-up farm will be read at Maroochydore, Nambour, Coolum, Kenilworth and the Mobile Library at 11am promptly!
