Noosa Country Show News...

Mostly with puppets, but sometimes with magic, juggling and mime, along with some very funny characters with some well worked comedy routines, Tall Poppies have performed all around the world with their roving riot of entertainment.

Tall poppies are ventriloquists and puppeteers Steve London and Sally Terrey and this year they are performing at the Tully Show with their colourful and entertaining puppets.

Their credentials are impressive. They have performed at festivals, agricultural shows and events all over New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific, as well as Austria, Belgium, China, Germany, Poland, Singapore, Spain and Switzerland.

When you enter the surreal world of Tall Poppies comedy characters you may come across a couple of big game hunters with a talking zebra and a zany lion. You may be accosted by a couple of lost babies wanting you to take them home or a couple of funny policemen and their even funnier police dogs. You may come across old time movie star Charlie Chaplin out and about making a film or Laurel and Hardy just out and about. It may be sassy 86 year old Lizzie and her long suffering husband Alfred that you see or a couple of talking crocodiles. Or you may even come across something completely different. Now that's surreal and that's Tall Poppies.

20 August 2009 We strive to succeed!

Our show focuses on family fun & education about rural aspects of where we live. For up to 5 generations in some families the community have been volunteering to make our show a great success year after year. Our show Society began in 1909 and since then our local people have valued the tradition of our small country town community. The Pomona Showgrounds were donated to the community by Taylor family & Mr J. W Napier. The grounds are still to this day held in trust by the Show Society for the community. Napier's family is still involved & compete in our show horse events.

Noosa Country show is held at Pomona Showgrounds on the 2nd Friday & Saturday in September every year. Horse competitions run both days with District events Friday and Open events Saturday. The Rodeo Saturday night 7pm includes Female Barrel riding section, Dairy cattle Friday Beef cattle Saturday, art festival, craft exhibits with many categories, junior art, photography, ute muster, woodcraft, homebrew, woodchop, dogs on Friday, horticulture, fruit & vege & cookery.
