Plans are well in hand for an exciting art expo. Within the Noosa Regional Gallery there will be an exhibition of leading artists from all the Eastern States of Australia, many of whom are donating their time to impart their knowledge.
Adjacent to the Gallery we will display the Outdoor art within a secured fenced area and covered by marquees. The inclusion of sculpture pieces will add another dimension to the exhibition as will the range of stalls set up by artists and craftspeople. Further entertainment is provided by the many musicians, folk singers, poets, storytellers and displays by dance and drama schools. Several full day activities, including a raku firing and paper making workshops are being arranged.
There are three workshops by leading Nationally known artists, Tony Smibert, watercolour; Roe Gartelmann, mixed media; and Madelaine Szymanski, the human form in watercolour being held in conjunction with the expo.
The objective is to have an interesting and informative art education event with free lectures and demonstrations to be held for artists, craftspeople and the general public. The exhibition will encourage and provide a venue and networking opportunity for local artists and to involve the Community in a visual arts event of significant proportions. Topics of general interest will be chosen and senior lecturers of several institutions have indicated that they would be happy to participate.
Prizes include a Return trip to Japan, two $1,000 awards and two $500.00 awards as well as a five day stay at a popular resort.
