Each year Noosa Arts Theatre performs the best three one act plays
submitted from across the country. The winning mix of drama and comedy
continues this year with some brilliant feats of imagination.
See the funny side of an Australian embassy trying to negotiate the release of an Australian kidnapped in an internet dating scam in Sarah Mayo-Tighe's Lonely Heart.
The dry black comedy That's That Then by Bruce Shearer is set in the future, when civil servants in a numberless room, long forgotten, in the bowels of the intergalactic civil service are trying to decide what to do with a rogue planet, hell bent on destroying itself. Can you guess which planet?
Outside the Window by Xavier Toby is about a couple, on a working holiday in London, all set to leave the UK to travel through Europe when they are witnesses to a murder. They have overstayed their visas and face the dilemma of whether or not to go to the police and face deportation, or stay silent. But can they live with the guilt?
"The universally high production values, effective set design and the professional attention to detail contributed to a high standard of production and a great, value-for-money night out at the theatre." Review by Jane Barton (Australian Stage Online) 14 July 2008.
Plays this year have award winning directors and actors including the Best Director 2008, Liza Park and Best Female Actor 2008, Yvie Somerville. Directors Xanthe Coward and Sue Sewell and actors Adam Freeman, Jodie Bushby, Stephen Moore, Lucas Tranchitella, Kay Elsum, Diet Simon, Peter Reynolds, Matt Payne, Kerrin Walder, Matthew Ingold and Shane Ross are an impressive line up of talent.
Have your say and vote for your favourite play. The audience's choice receives the Nancy Cato Award, named after the first winner of the competition in 1978.
