Noosa Pops on Saturday 22 October at 7.30pm in the Bicentennial Hall will exhilarate lovers of the Broadway musical. It will take the audience on a fantastic journey through some of the best and most loved songs of the last 100 years.
Enjoy favourites from Roger and Hammerstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Les Miserables and Showboat and whole selection of Beatles songs.
The 70 voices of Noosa Chorale will be in full swing along with two special soloists, Michael and Karina Gough who will sing excerpts from Porgy and Bess, Gershwin’s Shall We Dance and Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along.
Both Michael and Karina were members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus and have sung solos in a variety of concerts in Melbourne and on the Sunshine Coast.
Karina is a past conductor of two former Melbourne choirs (the Old Grammarian Singers and Once More With Feeling), an arranger of popular songs into 4-6-8 part harmonies for vocal ensembles, and an occasional performer of Celtic "sean-nos" singing.
In March 2011, Karina was delighted to accept the invitation of The Sunshine Statesmen Barbershop Chorus to become their Musical Director and Conductor
Noosa Pops will be conducted by Adrian King, who loves this kind of music and has the Chorale primed up for the concert.
Adrian has directed music for the Noosa Arts production of Gigi and conducted West Side Story with the Pacific Lutheran College. His past repertoire of musicals include: Joseph, Wizard of Oz, Blood Brothers, Guys & Dolls and Godspell.
As Music Director of the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra, Adrian has conducted Best of British, An Australian Afternoon, The QLD 150, An Adventure In Music and has also conducted Film Music at Coolum, ’The Classics’ as part of the Arts Festival at Kenilworth and the celebrated series of Proms Concerts at Lake Kawana and Mount Mee.
