Thursday 11 May 2006 HATS OFF TO VOLUNTEERS
As part of National Volunteer week, the staff at Tourism Noosa will be hosting a Volunteers BBQ to recognize the significant contribution volunteers make to the tourism industry in Noosa.
Currently, Tourism Noosa has over 80 volunteers that work a minimum of four hours a fortnight greeting and informing visitors about the many things to see and do when holidaying in Noosa.
To celebrate the week an Ambassadors BBQ will be held at Gympie Terrace, Noosaville on Tuesday 16 May from 5.30pm to recognize the magnificent work they do every day of the year.
All Ambassadors will receive a certificate of appreciation along with special service recognition badges for volunteers who have contributed 5 and 10 years respectfully. The staff at Tourism Noosa will be dressed in fun chefs hats and aprons to serve everyone on the night.
Tourism Noosa's CEO, Phil Harman said, "Our Ambassadors have a lot of fun. They help add that extra dimension to a great holiday by supplying information on local attractions and general knowledge of what's happening. Tourism is a people business and often the interaction with Noosa locals is a highlight of the trip.
Ambassadors get to work with a great cross section of people and there are often opportunities for familiarization visits to special attractions around Noosa and the other Sunshine Coast Shires."
Information Centre Ambassadors work in teams of two to four, with one shift running from 9am to 1pm and the second shift from 1pm to 5pm.
Anyone that is retired or between jobs that would like further information on becoming a volunteer Ambassador can contact Tourism Noosa's Ambassador Co-ordinator Diana Wales on 5474 5513.
