What's on at the Noosa Library for August
Storytelling and craft for big and little kids.
Every Tuesday at 10am.
Continuing on Wednesday 2nd August @11am: Babies in arms. A four-week program designed for parents with babies under 12 months. Join us for 45 minutes of songs and rhymes, fun, friendship and learning.
Thursdays @ 10.30am: Wriggle giggle read
For 1 to 3 year olds. Fun interactive stories, finger plays and songs.
Sessions approx 20 minutes.

(Children and Reading Experiences)
A trial program developed to support a reader. this will enable parents to teach their children in a fashion similar to teachers, it's the things the teachers know and parents don't.

Wednesday 16th August 6:30 pm - 8:30pm. Books Alive author visit.
James Moloney author of many books for children and young adults. 'The book of lies' is featured in the 2006 Books Alive Great Read Guide (50 books so good everyone will want to read them!) 'Lost property' has been short listed in 2006 for the Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award in the category of Older Readers. Hear James speak exclusively to us about his writing and his inspirations.  Bookings are essential and light refreshments will be served afterwards. Children's Bookweek 19th - 26th August. Children's book Council of Australia will announce the winners of this years award. Celebrate Australia's many talented authors and illustrators.
Monday 21st August @ 10 - 3pm. Write an Amazing Family History that even your grandkids will read. Workshop with nationally recognized author Hazel Edwards. Ivory Palms Resort, $25 per person. Morning and afternoon tea provided, bring your own lunch. Bookings are essential, call the library on 5442 4411.
Monday 21st August @ 6pm. Noosa's Native Plants Web Launch.  Noosa integrated Catchment Association will launch the 'Noosa's Native Plants' website, covering over 1000 local plants, landscaping information, cultural history, identification and associated fauna. Cost is $5 per person. Bookings are essential, call the library on 5442 4411
Thursday 24th August 6:30 - 7:30pm Bowel Cancer Presentation
The Noosa Library will continue with the community speaker's 'Cancer Self Defence' program. The topic this month is on Bowel cancer. The community speaker will be Doctor Ashley White. The older you are, the greater your chance of developing bowel cancer. This presentation covers ways to reduce your risk as well as the tests available to detect bowel cancer. Bookings are essential. Daffodil Day 25th August, 2006. You can support Daffodil day by purchasing merchandise at the Noosa Library leading up to August 25th.
Tuesday 29th August 6:30 -8:30pm. Books Alive booklover's double. Judy Nunn, former actress and author of the very popular novel called 'Heritage', set in Australia's Snowy Mountains, together with husband Bruce Venables, author of many titles including The Time of the Dragons, A Necessary Evil and The Spirit of the Bush.
