The 10th annual RSPCA gourmet food and wine evening, hosted by Ron and Helen Geyl’s Poets Café, has taken on a new feel. Always a dedicated fundraiser to support the work of the RSPCA Qld, the event has become an institution in Montville and is now in its 10th year!. But these days its impact has become even more important to the charity.
The demands for the RSPCA’ s services are rising every year. Its call centre answered over 300,000 calls last year and over 44,000 animals across Queensland were taken into its animal care centres.  The organisation relies almost entirely on public donations to deliver its services.
“We are relying more and more on activities like this and without the generosity of Ron and Helen and of course communities like Montville, we simply can’t survive and ultimately of course it’s the animals that suffer,” said RSPCA Qld spokesman Michael Beatty.
The owners of Poets Café, Ron and Helen Geyl, donate all the food and beverages so that the RSPCA can raise as much as possible from the night. Plus this year Flame Hill Winery will be providing the wine.
“We’re thrilled they came on board and we all support the cause.” said Mr Geyl. “We believe the RSPCA does an incredible job in very difficult circumstances. The staff and volunteers they have are simply amazing!”
The 2015 event will once again be introduced by Michael Beatty and the special guest speaker will be Dr Tania Bishop, RSPCA Qld’s Senior Wildlife Veterinarian. She has had a wealth of experience and is extremely passionate about her chosen profession.
For a night of culinary delights, drinks and great company, with entertainment provided (and likely splattering of celebrity) it promises to be an enjoyable way to help the animals.
Tickets which include food and beverages are $85 each or $150 for two. This price includes gourmet canapes and all drinks.
