It is that time of membership renewal already!  Please continue to support your Association by renewing - or join up for the first time, up to September 2012; many thanks to those who have already done so.

Despite rising costs, the membership fee has been kept to just $10 per household - although any donations are much appreciated to help to deliver the services.  Membership form is in the AGM brochure attached.

Take an active role in securing this valuable community source of information and voice, by joining the committee and assisting with the many roles that can keep your organisation vibrant and in touch with topics of interest or concern.

Throughout the year, NRRA through a series of forums and workshops and an active website, has helped to raise community awareness about a variety of key issues, helping the community to be able to have an informed say.  Topics have included local Disaster Risk Awareness, Management and Planning, Climate Adaptation, concerns about water rates, Noosa Junction rejuvenation project and various Council community consultation processes.

Cr Russell Green has presented up-to-date information about Council projects and diverse services, expenditure and future planning;  Member for Noosa, Glen Elmes shared information about many of the issues at the time including environmental and sustainability matters and discussed the social and economic benefits that a major hospital can bring to a region; NIA spokesperson and former Mayor of Noosa, Noel Playford, introduced the vision and rationale for de-amalgamation and the Meet the Candidates forum provided an opportunity for the community to hear from the candidates standing for local election and raise questions.

But there is still so much more to do.  If you feel strongly about local issues, why not become a Project leader and join the committee?  As current committee members step down and all positions are declared open, NRRA - which has been running for over 40 years - needs you!

Make a difference to your community and get involved!  A Committee Nomination form is attached or simply contact me on 5449 8118 or email to:

Thank you to all who attended the meetings in 2011, guest presenters and all who assisted in any way.  Please actively support NRRA in the year ahead.

Request for Photos of Mayor Bob Abbot in Action in the Community

As part of the tribute to Bob for his many years of community commitment, we would like to compile a respectful presentation of photos showing him at any of the many and diverse public engagements and informal occasions including musical sessions!

Few people might realise the scope of Bob’s work and the kilometres he has had to travel, taking away from family and leisure time, in order to show his support for and to participate in so many community and official ventures and meetings spread across the Sunshine Coast region.

These photos will be put on a CD and shown after the AGM and will be presented to Bob in appreciation of his tireless contribution to the community.

Please email your photos to:  If you have hard copy photos, please record details of the event shown and your personal details so that we can return them if required.  Please then send these to PO Box 94, Noosa Heads or deliver to NICA office at Noosa Marina, Tewantin.

Don’t forget to attend the “Audience with Mayor Bob Abbot” on September 29th at Noosa Sports @ the Junction (formerly Noosa Bowls Club), which will be held after the NRRA AGM, registration from 5.30pm.

Many thanks for your assistance.
