Show your support at the Olympic Human Flag Event

A human flag consisting of 450 people will show an enormous message of support to our Sunshine Coast Olympians in London.
Economic Development portfolio (Tourism Sports and Major Events) holder Cr Jason OPray is calling on all residents to come and be a part of the Olympic Human Flag in what shapes as a unique show of support for local Olympians.
“The event will entail 450 individual pieces of board held together to form a 20 metre flag of support,” Cr OPray said.
“Ironman legend Grant Kenny will capture this on film via a helicopter overhead and the message of support will then be posted on YouTube for all participants and most importantly our Sunshine Coast Olympians in London to view.”
The Olympic Human Flag Event is proudly organised by Pelican Waters Swimming Club.  Former local Olympians, Paralympians, Special Olympians and their coaches have been invited to the event as special guests.
Cr OPray said the special pre-Olympic community celebration would provide a welcome boost to our athletes in London.
“Help add strength to our message of support by being there this Sunday,” he said.
“This is a great opportunity to show how proud you are of our local heroes and have a really fun time while doing it!”
