Open Day Displays 11/05/2006
To mark Local Government Week 2006, Noosa Council plans to stage an Open Day on Friday, May 19th between 10 am and 3.00 pm at its office in Pelican Street, Tewantin.
Displays will range from the very latest 21st Century computerised high technology to memorabilia of life in the slow lane, when Noosa Shire was first formed in 1910.
In the top floor Council Chamber, staff at dedicated PCs will help residents to check out the location of their homes on Google Earth, demonstrate computerised mapping of their properties, view other details such as dog registrations and also be shown how to access the Library collection via the Internet.
Also on display will be Council's pioneering Pocket PC/GPS Motorbike asset management system, a groundbreaking procedure which has aroused interest from local governments and IT media across the country.
In the neighbouring Committee Room, a heritage display will include Council Minute Books going back to 1910 and rare memorabilia from the historical records of the Noosa Library.
All residents are welcome to attend, free of charge. For school group bookings, please call Reception on 5449 5200 or email email@example.com
