Noosa Library will help raise awareness of how organ donations can
save lives and tissue donation can improve quality of life at a special
event this month.
Sue Priebe from DonateLife will present a heartfelt talk at the library on Thursday 21 April at 10am.
Locals are invited to come along and listen to the personal stories of a recipient and donor family as you make the first steps to Discover, Decide and Discuss Organ Donation.
Division 11 Councillor Russell Green said there is an urgent need to increase Australia's organ and tissue donation rates and the first step is to get the topic on the community agenda and conversations started in every household.
"DonateLife encourages families to have a memorable discussion with their loved ones to ensure they know and understand their organ and tissue donation wishes," he said.
"Unfortunately, there are more than 1700 people on Australia's organ transplant waiting lists and more than one person will die every week waiting.
"One organ and tissue donor can save the lives of up to ten people and significantly improve the lives of dozens more.
"This could be one of the most important events you attend this year."
Bookings are essential for this free event. Please phone Noosa Library on 5442 4411 or book online.
Light refreshments will be provided.
